On 19 April the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) and the European office of the metropolitan region FrankfurtRheinMain invited to the event “Climate and resource friendly transport – how can Interreg support these objectives?” which took place in Frankfurt. The event was part of the series “European collaboration creates added value”.

The participants had the opportunity to learn about exemplary results of concluded Interreg projects on the topic transport and traffic. Actors from transport corridors, logistics as well as public transport and IT came together to present best practices and discuss about the latest topics.

During a session hosted by Dr. Dries from the German Institute of Urban Affairs, Jens Kurnol from the German Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning explained how transport and traffic are integrated and implemented into the Interreg B programme areas with German contribution. Following four successful Interreg projects were introduced, offering examples and ideas for other participants. In the afternoon experiences and practical examples were exchanged in parallel workshops and later in the plenum.

The next networking event of this series will take place on 10 of May at the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency in Hamburg. The main subject will be “blue growth” – blue technologies / regional planning at sea / development of coastal regions.
