With the Gigabit Campus and Municipal Marketplace, the central meeting of the German fiber optic industry in 2024 has also developed into an important point of contact for municipal politics and administration. At the same time, the media hall integrated into fiberdays brought together the who’s who of the media industry. In addition to a top-class conference program with decision-makers from the industry and politics, international exhibitors from the fiber optics and digital industry will present their innovations and services. Visitors will have the opportunity to find out about smart cities and smart regions, data centers and sustainability, civil engineering and building cabling as well as 5G campus networks, startup cooperations and open access.

ANGA COM

Cologne, Germany
ANGA COM is Europe’s leading congress trade fair for broadband, television and online. This is where network operators, equipment suppliers and content providers meet to discuss all aspects of broadband and media distribution. The top topics at ANGA COM include: Gigabit Networks, FTTH, HFC, 5G, OTT, AppTV, Cloud TV, Video Streaming, Artificial Intelligence, Smart City and Smart Home.
Visitors can expect more than 480 exhibitors from 35 countries and thus a wide range of information, products and networking opportunities. A three-day congress program will take place parallel to the exhibition.

Description
From 19 to 21 November, experts from administration, politics and business gathered at KommDIGITALE to discuss innovative solutions and best practices relating to e-government, digital infrastructures and municipal digitalization. The focus was on topics such as smart cities, data management, cyber security and digital citizen participation.
With more than 125 workshops, seminars and events in the DIGITAL Congress and Exhibitor Forum, the 2,500 visitors were treated to an extensive program.

8th Broadband Forum Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Description
Representatives of the gigabit industry met at the 8th Broadband Forum Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Under the patronage of the Ministry of the Interior, Construction and Digitization MV and VATM e. V., the latest innovations from the industry were presented in lectures and a trade exhibition. Participants also had the opportunity to discuss topics such as the future of broadband expansion and the digital transformation in administration.

The Städte- und Gemeindetag Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is the association of towns and municipalities in the federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. As a community of solidarity, it embodies the idea of municipal self-government committed to the common good and represents it vis-à-vis the state, state and non-state institutions and associations and, together with the federal associations, vis-à-vis the federal government and the European Union.
In addition to the election of the board of the Association of Towns and Municipalities for the next five years, members had the opportunity to exchange ideas with municipal and supra-regional service providers at the trade fair. At our stand no. 26, we provided information on the topics of digital twins and smart regions, mobile communications, as well as national funding and the federal funding program Gigabit.

Description
The Business Day of Innovations 2024 at the XICA Congress and Conference Center in Berlin brought together representatives of the German government, foreign politicians and members of the Bundestag to discuss digital policy issues. Under the motto “Focusing on the future: Setting the course for an innovative and strong Germany”, the focus included the areas of cyber security, European sovereignty, artificial intelligence, value creation 4.0, digital transformation and digital infrastructure.
Tim Brauckmüller, Managing Director of aconium GmbH, chaired the panel “On the way to a robust digital infrastructure: How can the state act as a driver of change?” in the main hall at 2.30 pm. Together with panel participants such as Dr. Daniela Brönstrup, Vice President of the Federal Network Agency and Gertrud Husch, Head of the Digital Connectivity Department at the BMDV, he discussed the role of the state in infrastructure expansion, synergies between public and private players, innovation promotion, best practices and pointed out recommendations for action.

The “Gigabit for NRW” Infothek has developed into an innovative platform for industry experts, representatives of leading broadband expansion companies and political decision-makers to exchange ideas. Gigabit expansion will remain a key topic in 2024, bringing with it new challenges and exciting developments. As usual, the program offered you a comprehensive insight into the current status quo of gigabit expansion in North Rhine-Westphalia, current regulatory and political developments and forward-looking projects.
To mark the tenth anniversary, there was an evening event that provided the setting for further discussions and networking in a relaxed atmosphere.
