From 19 to 21 November, experts from administration, politics and business gathered at KommDIGITALE to discuss innovative solutions and best practices relating to e-government, digital infrastructures and municipal digitalization. The focus was on topics such as smart cities, data management, cyber security and digital citizen participation.

With more than 125 workshops, seminars and events in the DIGITAL Congress and Exhibitor Forum, the 2,500 visitors were treated to an extensive program.

Representatives of the gigabit industry met at the 8th Broadband Forum Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Under the patronage of the Ministry of the Interior, Construction and Digitization MV and VATM e. V., the latest innovations from the industry were presented in lectures and a trade exhibition. Participants also had the opportunity to discuss topics such as the future of broadband expansion and the digital transformation in administration.

The Business Day of Innovations 2024 at the XICA Congress and Conference Center in Berlin brought together representatives of the German government, foreign politicians and members of the Bundestag to discuss digital policy issues. Under the motto “Focusing on the future: Setting the course for an innovative and strong Germany”, the focus included the areas of cyber security, European sovereignty, artificial intelligence, value creation 4.0, digital transformation and digital infrastructure.

Tim Brauckmüller, Managing Director of aconium GmbH, chaired the panel “On the way to a robust digital infrastructure: How can the state act as a driver of change?” in the main hall at 2.30 pm. Together with panel participants such as Dr. Daniela Brönstrup, Vice President of the Federal Network Agency and Gertrud Husch, Head of the Digital Connectivity Department at the BMDV, he discussed the role of the state in infrastructure expansion, synergies between public and private players, innovation promotion, best practices and pointed out recommendations for action.

Germany’s connectivity landscape is changing. The goal is ambitious: to roll out nationwide, converged networks at gigabit speeds by the end of 2025. Now more than ever, it is imperative that everyone involved in building next-generation networks comes together to drive Germany’s broadband strategy forward.

At the 28th IHK Forum on City Marketing, decision-makers from city and town marketing, neighborhood initiatives and urban development met this year to address the topic of “Transforming the city center”. In an extensive program, the participants were able to deal with the current and future challenges of inner city design in smaller and larger cities. Speakers with practical experience presented innovative solutions and best practices in keynote speeches, forums, workshops, discussion rounds and workshop reports on the key topics of real estate, communication and digitalization.

The German County Association held its annual conference this year under the title “Challenges for counties at the turn of the century”. The event brought together district administrators, district councillors, members of district councils and other guests from all over Germany to discuss important municipal issues.
