The motto of this year’s Metropolitan Solutions was “Create better cities”. The event took place from 31 May – 2 June 2016 in Berlin.

More than 26 interdisciplinary conferences and workshops were held, focusing on how smarter, greener and more sustainable cities of tomorrow can be shaped. Broad insights into current and emerging trends and technologies in innovative urban developments were provided.

The Smart City as the core topic of the conferences was approached from different perspectives such as energy and environment, urban planning, funding and financing, participation and integration as well as urban resilience. Respective bottlenecks, approaches and solutions were discussed among academia, public and private sectors, which lead to identifying gaps and priorities in their future research and development activities.

Furthermore, the extensive exhibition area and the Smart Business Days provided excellent networking opportunities. Participants were given the opportunity to find out about the latest innovative solutions and services for tomorrow’s cities, contact competent solution providers and find out about their current and future projects.
