On December 14, the Federal Network Agency published new figures on gigabit expansion in Germany. According to these figures, almost three out of ten households have access to a fiber optic connection.
The data (as of June 2023) shows that 28.22% of all households have a fiber optic connection to the building (FTTB) or to the home (FTTH). This represents an increase of around five percentage points within six months. If gigabit connections via the TV cable network (HFC) are included, the figure in Germany is just under 74%. The updated data can be found in the broadband atlas of the Gigabit Basic Book.
