The FTTH Conference 2023 from April 18 to 20 in Madrid was a complete success for aconium GmbH. The organizers and trade fair guests were also satisfied with the event. Over 3,000 delegates from all over Europe gathered in the Spanish capital to find out about the latest developments in the field of broadband expansion and to discuss the current and future situation in the industry. There was ample opportunity for this in the 26 expert workshops, 18 panel discussions and various keynote speeches on the topic of fiber optics. The opportunities for discussions on the fringes of the conference and trade fair were also used extensively. Leading providers of fiber optic technologies presented their products and strategies in Madrid. Among the more than 100 exhibitors was aconium GmbH, which once again supported the event this year as the main sponsor. After all, the FTTH conference is one of the most important European industry events, bringing together political decision-makers, regulatory authorities, operators, investors and technology experts.
Tim Brauckmüller, Managing Director of aconium, sums up the trade fair positively: “This year, we once again supported Europe’s largest fiber optic trade fair as the main sponsor and can look back on a successful trade fair overall. We received consistently positive feedback for our stand and especially for our Governmental Day workshop.”
As last year in Vienna, aconium GmbH was once again able to host a delegation from Ukraine at the conference, whose head Yuriy Matsyk, Director of Broadband at the Ukrainian Ministry of Digital Affairs, gave the delegates an insight into his current working conditions, the challenges and the tasks of his company on site in Ukraine in a very emotional speech. aconium has been involved in Ukraine since 2018, operates its own site in Kiev and is working with Ukraine on a nationwide broadband information system for Ukrainian infrastructure expansion as part of the EU4DigitalUA project.
As part of the “Governmental Day Workshop”, Alfons Schöps, Head of the aconium liaison office in Brussels, and Darijus Valiucko, Project Manager at aconium GmbH, also discussed the latest developments and future plans of the EU Commission and the member states for fiber optic expansion. The focus was on successful projects and their benefits for society and the population.
Another highlight was the aconium GmbH stand, which focused on digital data for local authorities. In collaboration with GESBRO mbH, we presented a high-tech bicycle for collecting survey data in areas that cannot be reached with a conventional survey vehicle, for example in the narrow streets of historic city centers. Solutions like these are important for the targeted implementation of smart regions, digital twins and municipal data platforms. This is because aconium GmbH is not only an important company in broadband expansion in Germany, supporting municipalities in the development and organization of digital infrastructure, but is also an expert in the field of infrastructure and regional development and promotion. We work with German and European partners on funding projects, for example for the digitalization of rural areas, develop smart mobility concepts for local and regional transport and intelligent strategies to advance the energy transition and are involved in projects relating to smart city and digital twin projects.
Next year, aconium GmbH and the FTTH Conference will once again form a successful team, as the event will be a home game. The FTTH Conference 2024 will then take place from March 19 to 21 at the Berlin Exhibition Center.
