On May 25, the first “Fiber & Municipalities” theme day will take place as part of ANGA COM. On this day, aconium invites you to the “Broadband Forum for Municipalities” and a top-class panel entitled “Investors, operator models, wholesale only – which strategy is the right one?”. All visitors will receive practical tips for their expansion projects and plans from 14:30. Paul Kempf, Managing Director of Zweckverband Breitbandversorgung Landkreis Lörrach, Christoph Meurer, Managing Director, Meridiam Glasfaser GmbH & Co KG, Ralf Gresselmeyer, CEO, glasfaserplus and Klaus Schedlbauer, Plant Manager and Economic Officer of Eigenbetrieb Digitale Infrastruktur im Landkreis Cham will take part in the panel. The discussion will be moderated by Andreas Kluge, CIO of aconium GmbH.
The third day of the trade fair is therefore dedicated to the topic of “Fiber Optics & Municipalities” and is being organized by aconium GmbH together with the broadband association ANGA and the Association of Telecommunications and Value-Added Service Providers (VATM). The panel invited by aconium GmbH will provide a practical overview of the various options for the expansion and operation of a gigabit network in order to shed light on the different facets of infrastructure expansion from all sides. The experts on the panel will contribute their in-depth knowledge of various expansion projects.
Paul Kempf, Managing Director of Zweckverband Breitbandversorgung Landkreis Lörrach, will report on his extensive experience. The special-purpose association has been the joint undertaking of the 35 towns and municipalities belonging to the district and the district of Lörrach since 2015. It is entrusted with the expansion of the fiber optic network and the further development of the digital infrastructure. The example of Lörrach illustrates how digitalization can be thought of in an intersectoral way, as the broadband supply association has also built a new data center with a partner, for example.
Christoph Meurer, Managing Director of Meridiam Glasfaser GmbH & Co. KG, will provide the perspective and viewpoint of investors in the panel discussion. Meridiam is a global infrastructure investor specializing in the development and operation of sustainable infrastructures. The company operates on a long-term basis and has financed the fiber optic expansion in Montabaur in Rhineland-Palatinate as a partner in Germany. Meridiam Glasfaser is building and maintaining the passive FTTB/H network there.
The company Glasfaserplus, represented by CEO Ralf Gresselmeyer, will share its experience with fiber optic expansion. Glasfaserplus is a joint venture between Deutsche Telekom and the IFM Global Infrastructure Fund. The joint venture builds and operates fiber optic networks.
Klaus Schedlbauer, Plant Manager and Head of Economic Affairs for the Digital Infrastructure Company in the district of Cham, will explain the experiences from the perspective of a local authority. The district of Cham set up its own fiber optic network as a “passive infrastructure” in the so-called operator model, in which the infrastructure financed by the gigabit funding from the federal government and the state of Bavaria as well as cost contributions from the municipalities and the district’s own funds remains the property of the district.
On this day, admission to the trade fair is free of charge for representatives of the public sector and all municipal guests will receive a free lunch from ANGA COM.
