aconium Albania is pleased to announce the launch of the “GovNet Expansion” project, which aims to expand the Albanian government network (GovNet). The expansion of the network aims to ensure faster, reliable and secure communication between healthcare providers in Albania. The project is being implemented with the support of the EU-funded WBIF/WB27-ALB-DII-01 technical assistance programme in cooperation with Detecom International GmbH. The beneficiary is the National Agency for Information Technology in Albania.

A kick-off meeting for this project commissioned by the Western Balkans Investment Framework was held in Tirana on 07.06.2023. Representatives from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy of Albania, the National Agency for Information Security, the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority, the EU Delegation to Albania and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) came together for this purpose. With this initiative, the participants aim to reform communication and cooperation among Albanian medical professionals and establish a more efficient and networked healthcare system.

The focus of the project is on expanding the communication infrastructure required for the Government Network (GovNet) and the associated establishment of faster, reliable and secure communication channels for healthcare providers. Through the interaction of a solid infrastructure and the use of modern technology, communication gaps in the GovNet are to be closed. In addition, the smooth exchange of information between healthcare professionals will be facilitated, improving the quality and efficiency of patient care.

The experts at aconium GmbH support the expansion of GovNet. As part of a comprehensive feasibility study, they evaluate the technical requirements, identify the potential challenges and help develop practical solutions and concepts for implementation. In addition, aconium GmbH assesses both the existing infrastructure and the existing GovNet development plans and provides support with network planning and the development of tender documents. It is also responsible for estimating the costs incurred and carrying out a cost-benefit analysis.

Tim Brauckmüller, Managing Director of aconium: “The GovNet expansion project embodies our company’s mission: to use technology and innovation to improve the lives of citizens. By improving connectivity and communication between healthcare providers, we want to create the basis for healthcare professionals to improve medical care for patients and optimise the use of resources.”
