A digital learning location with future-proof IT equipment and high data security: Börde-Schule Klein Oschersleben now bears the “Broadband Schools Seal of Approval”. On Tuesday (14.12.2021), head teacher Silke Heick accepted the award from Widar Wendt, Head of the aconium Academy and cooperation partner of dibkom. With this seal, the German Institute for Broadband Communication (dibkom) certifies that schools nationwide have an exemplary broadband infrastructure. The special school in the Börde district qualified for the award as part of an audit.

“A connection to broadband internet is a basic requirement for a modern, digitally supported school,” said Widar Wendt at the award ceremony at Börde School. “Our experts have intensively examined the Börde School and I am delighted to be able to certify the future viability of the school’s basic IT structure to Ms. Heick and her team today.” In addition to Headmistress Heick, District Administrator Martin Stichnoth and the Mayor of Oschersleben Benjamin Kanngießer also attended the award ceremony, as did Claudia Burkhardt (DNS:NET) and Holger Haupt as broadband manager of the Börde district. The auditor, Björn Kranich, from Kellner Telecom, was also present. The “Broadband Schools Seal of Approval” is the first standard in Germany to certify the sustainable IT infrastructure of school networks. It sets minimum technical standards for digital strategies and the expected use of end devices. With this minimum equipment, schools ensure the feasibility of their pedagogical concepts for interdisciplinary and subject-specific education.
