Two become one: The LEADER regions “Casseler BergLand” and “KulturLandschaft HessenSpitze” are starting the application phase for LEADER 2023-2027 together. aconium is providing support as a sparring partner.

For the members of the steering group, it was a meeting with a double vision. In addition to the beautiful view, the Hoher Dörnberg recently offered them the opportunity to take a look into the future of the Kassel-Land region. This is because the initiators want it to become part of the EU LEADER funding program between 2023 and 2027.

The new Kassel-Land region would then merge the two previous LEADER regions Casseler BergLand and KulturLandschaft HessenSpitze. This would allow the movers and shakers to work together in future to tackle the challenges of living and working in this rural area. aconium supports the Kassel-Land region in this as a sparring partner.

With LEADER, the EU promotes innovative actions in rural areas in order to advance the independent development of regions. The aim is to shape participation processes in a holistic, open and future-oriented manner, to design future scenarios and to develop goals. The result is a Local Development Strategy (LES) for the LEADER region of Kassel-Land. A broad participation process is planned for the coming months in order to develop the LES together with citizens and politicians.

Four areas of action are the particular focus of the process now underway:

  • Equal living conditions for “ALL” – Services of general interest
  • Economic development and regional supply structures through small and micro enterprises
  • Recreational areas for local recreation and rural tourism
  • “Bioeconomy” – adaptation strategies for sustainable consumer behavior.

For each of the aspects, the participants focus in particular on the cross-cutting topics of digitalization, climate protection and sustainability.
