What is robotics and what practical applications does it have in our professional and everyday lives? How can we prepare ourselves to deal with it and what advantages does the use of robots offer us? These were the questions to which the new online format TECHTIDE TALK #Robotics provided answers on July 15, 2021.

After the opening of the event by Lower Saxony’s State Secretary for Digitalization Stefan Muhle, Dr. Marian Köller, Managing Director of the Digital Agency Lower Saxony, led through the programme. Practical applications that can be supported by robots were the focus of the event. Food preparation processes and agricultural production methods were presented. For example, the FENNTEC agricultural robot was shown, which can be used to make sustainable and ecological agriculture more cost-effective and efficient by weeding fields fully automatically and autonomously without the use of pesticides. Various robotics-based catering systems were also demonstrated. smyze and aitme showed prototypes of their catering robots, which are controlled directly via a smartphone app and are to be used at trade fairs or in canteens in the future to prepare drinks or meals autonomously. The online conference also addressed the question of how and under what conditions the robot systems should be used. The Robot Factory offers students, pupils, teachers, (young) professionals and companies the opportunity to receive training and further education in robotics topics through training courses and seminars at various locations in Lower Saxony.

With the new series of talks, the organizers of TECHTIDE, the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour, Transport and Digitalization and Deutsche Messe AG, also heralded the start of the TECHTIDE hybrid trade fair at the beginning of December. In the form of further online and regional conferences, additional specialist events on the topics of robotics, artificial intelligence (AI) and digitalization will be held throughout the state of Lower Saxony until the trade fair date on 1 and 2 December 2021.
