As announced by the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises, the so-called Congress Fund Berlin is intended to support the conference industry in the German capital when the coronavirus situation allows conferences and similar events to resume. The fund is endowed with ten million euros for the benefit of Berlin’s important economic sector. In concrete terms, this means that organizers can receive a subsidy of 25 euros per participant for face-to-face conferences held in Berlin. The prerequisite is that 50 or more people take part. Events that take place hybrid – i.e. analog and digital – are subsidized with 35 euros per participant and event day. Anyone planning a conference or congress that is also particularly sustainable can also apply for funding for this.
