The municipality of Thurmansbang, in the Lower Bavarian district of Freyung-Grafenau, is being supplied with ultra-fast fiber optic connections (directly to the buildings). The expansion project was launched on 17 August 2020 in the presence of Federal Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer, Mayor Martin Behringer and Dr. Ulrich Nitschke, member of the aconium management board, among others.
As part of the construction work, over 500 households will be connected to high-speed internet. With the expansion of the fiber optic network, the municipality of Thurmansbang is strengthening its advantage as an attractive place to live and work. The Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure is funding around 1.7 million euros through the federal broadband subsidy, while the state is providing a good 850,000 euros. The municipality is investing an additional 280,000 euros in this project.
