The Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) and the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) want to further promote the long-term and nationwide expansion of fiber optic networks in Germany with two new financing programs for private and municipal companies.
The “Digital Infrastructure Investment Loan” program offers low-interest, long-term financing for investments in the expansion of fibre optic networks and is available via KfW financing partners – usually banks and savings banks. The interest rates are reduced with funds from the BMVI and combine attractive conditions and high planning security with terms of up to 30 years and fixed-interest periods of up to 20 years. The “KfW Consortium Loan Digital Infrastructure” is intended to support projects with more complex and individual financing requirements: Through the program, KfW participates in the financing of projects as part of banking consortia. It provides direct loan funds and assumes credit risks, in each case on the same terms as the other financing partners. Both programs start on April 1 of this year.
