The symbolic ground-breaking ceremony for the fiber optic network in the district of Uelzen took place in Steddorf on 13 September. In addition to various political representatives of the municipality and the companies involved, numerous visitors also came to attend the ceremony.
Lower Saxony’s Minister for Economic Affairs, Labor and Transport, Olaf Lies, said that the district of Uelzen would play a pioneering role for other districts in providing the local population and economy with high-speed Internet. Mr. Adam Karzelek from the civil engineering company Fonbud assured that the lines would be laid “on time and in line with requirements”.
Minister Olaf Lies was joined at the event by District Administrator Dr. Heiko Blume (Uelzen district), members of the Bundestag Kirsten Lühmann and Henning Otte, member of the state parliament Jörg Hillmer, numerous mayors and Stefan Molkentin, branch manager of aconium GmbH, the project sponsor for the federal broadband funding program. The residents of the region are confident about the expansion and are pleased that the fiber optic project in the district of Uelzen is progressing.
