It came into force on January 9, 2023: the 2030 policy program for the Digital Decade. It defines the EU’s digital goals for 2030 and sets out the framework for their implementation. Whether this succeeds depends not least on the digital networking wheel and whether citizens can access digital services.
To promote the implementation of these measures, the EU presents the European Digital Connectivity Awards every year. This year, forward-looking projects can once again apply for the award. Whether large or small, urban or rural, private or public – projects that significantly improve digital connectivity at an advanced stage are in demand. Applications can be submitted until June 2, 2025.
As a strongly networked company in Europe and an innovative driving force for digitalization and regional development, aconium GmbH supports the organization and implementation of the awards.
The awards are presented in three categories:
1. excellence and innovation in deployment of gigabit-ready infrastructure
For projects that implement high-performance networks. These include FTTH, advanced 5G FWA/mobile or satellite networks and their combination with other infrastructures (cloud, edged computing, IoT, AI, 3C networks).
2. champions in addressing digital divide in rural and remote areas
For initiatives that digitally connect rural regions that are difficult to access and thus enable social and economic participation.
3. cross-border and international connectivity
For projects that promote digital connectivity across national borders and create holistic, secure and resilient cross-border connectivity solutions.
