Improving Transport and Accessibility through new Communication Technologies
The Project
ITRACT aimed to improve the connectivity and accessibility of remote areas in the North Sea Region through the integration of innovative transport and communication infrastructure. The project focused on the development and use of novel ICT applications and brought together technology experts – in the fields of ICT, satellite, wireless broadband and sensor technology – with socio-economic experts.
Goals
ITRACT aimed to create, test and manage an information and booking platform, first locally and subsequently on a transnational basis, in order to combine needs and offers for all modes of transport (taxis, regular service, trains and private ridesharing opportunities). The results of the project were summarized in pilot studies and best practices guides on the transnational implementation of transport offers. The project was extended during the term with new additional project partners.
