Municipal heat planning
Strategic roadmaps for climate-neutral heat supply
Municipal heat planning supports cities and municipalities in systematically analyzing their heat supply and making it climate-neutral. Based on analyses of the current situation and potential, realistic target scenarios and measures for a sustainable local heat supply are developed.

Year
aconium GmbH provides comprehensive support to cities and municipalities in their municipal heat planning.
Municipal heat planning is divided into various project phases. It begins with an analysis of the current situation, followed by an analysis of potential, the development of a target scenario, and the creation of a catalog of measures.
As part of the inventory analysis, energy suppliers, companies, housing associations, and other large consumers in particular are asked to specify their current and future requirements in order to obtain a realistic picture of the local situation with regard to current heat supply and future heat demand.
This data is then used to derive the potential for future heat supply for the relevant districts and the entire area. Based on the potential identified, the next step is to develop target scenarios for how future supply could be designed in order to implement a resilient and climate-friendly local heat supply in the long term.
These specific possibilities are presented and prepared in an implementation strategy.
In addition to the actual planning, the contract also includes comprehensive public relations work and the involvement of the various stakeholders.
Objectives
This includes developing a roadmap for climate-neutral heat supply that is tailored to specific local conditions. Based on this, security of supply can be increased and dependence on energy imports reduced. Politicians and administrators, as well as citizens and businesses, gain planning security when making decisions about their future local heat supply. Municipal heat planning is a fundamental first step on which the heat transition is based and which will be further implemented in the coming years.
Tasks of aconium GmbH
aconium monitors the achievement of milestones and targets throughout the entire project duration and develops a sustainability strategy that allows for regular monitoring of the current status even after completion of the contract and enables meaningful continuation of the heating plan.
The data-based and technical parts of the contract will be handled by subcontractors of aconium GmbH. The main components are: data management of actual data/status quo for inventory analysis, e.g., heating technologies, heat consumption, etc., analysis of processed data to derive potential, action strategies, and further steps. Validation of inventory data, including the generation of graphics and other visualizations. Calculation of target scenarios using a heating concept.
