Andreas Scheuer, Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania’s Digital Minister Christian Pegel today gave the go-ahead for broadband expansion in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg on the island of Poel. With almost 6,000 kilometers of planned fiber optic lines and a total investment volume of 180 million euros, the broadband expansion in Northwest Mecklenburg is the largest project to date as part of the federal funding program for broadband expansion. The federal subsidy for all 14 sub-projects amounts to 113 million euros. With today’s ground-breaking ceremony, all sub-projects will enter the construction phase in stages.
