In November 2018, the federal broadband funding program was expanded to include a special call for schools and hospitals.
Applicants should note that, in accordance with Section 5.5. of the funding guidelines, funding for schools and hospitals is provided as part of an overall application (6th call for infrastructure funding) if the facilities are located in an area in which there are also underserved households. This means that an application in the special call for proposals can only be considered if the schools and hospitals are located in otherwise ineligible areas but do not have NGA coverage themselves.
Here, “area” is not to be equated with municipal or application area. Funding for schools and hospitals in the special call is possible if the relevant buildings are not located in close proximity to another underserved area.
