On August 20, Andreas Scheuer, Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, and Annette Schumacher, member of the management board of the project sponsor aconium, handed over funding decisions from the federal funding program for broadband expansion to representatives from nine Lower Bavarian municipalities.
This means that around 13.4 million euros in federal funding will flow into expansion projects in the towns of Waldkirchen and Vilshofen an der Donau as well as in the municipalities of Hohenau, Markt Gangkofen, Haarbach, Salzweg, Tiefenbach, Markt Fürstenzell and Hutthurm. The Free State of Bavaria is contributing nearly five million euros. The funds will be used to carry out a total of 327 kilometers of civil engineering work in the rural project areas and connect 4,455 households and 603 companies to high-speed Internet.
