Last Thursday, the 16th Saxon Energy Day – “Energy-efficiently connected?(!)” – took place at Globalfoundries in Dresden. The event was organized by the Saxon Chambers of Industry and Commerce. Topics relating to the energy transition and the current legal situation at EU, federal and state level were discussed.

The participants were welcomed on site by the IHK Dresden. The focus of the Energy Day was on efficient networking: the extent to which network concepts can be used and exchanged between companies for the economic supply of energy was debated.

Energy-efficient networking was examined theoretically and also practically by numerous speakers using best-practice applications. For example, Mr. Uwe Herrmann from 50Hertz Transmission GmbH discussed grid usage fees and grid regulations.

For companies and municipal representatives, the event offered an excellent framework for intensive exchange and active networking.

The Globalfoundries plant in Dresden proved to be an extremely suitable venue for the Energy Day. Engineers, technicians and other specialists work together every day at the plant to enable energy-efficient semiconductor production. An informative tour of the factory was therefore not just a supporting programme, but also illustrated the practice of energy-efficient production methods using concrete examples.

Claudia Mühlberg from the Leipzig site of aconium GmbH also took part in the event and used the opportunity to exchange ideas with numerous stakeholders on site; an important step for future work on energy projects in the Saxony region and beyond.
