aconium GmbH supports the EU Commission (DG CONNECT) in the Broadband Europe Initiative. For the years 2020-2021, the Commission has chosen aconium GmbH as a reliable partner for the implementation of the Broadband Europe Initiative.

“The project is exciting for us and very valuable for the players in Europe,” says Jana Brauckmüller, Team Leader Regional Development and Promotion.

On the Digital Single Market website, the EU Commission’s initiative provides information on current developments in broadband policy in the EU and the member states and contributes as an information platform to achieving the goals of the Gigabit Society 2025.

To successfully implement the Commission’s efforts, aconium works with partners throughout Europe, in particular with the network of European Broadband Competence Centers.

The tasks of aconium GmbH are diverse and range from creating and completing the website content, analyzing studies and other sources of information on broadband technologies, to updating the 28 country pages with translations into the respective national languages.

An essential part of the project work is the design, organization and implementation of the annual European Broadband Awards. All successfully implemented or advanced NGA projects – whether large or small, in rural or urban areas and regardless of the technology – can apply. Experts from aconium GmbH support the European Commission and the applicants in evaluating the applications and throughout the entire process.
