The gigabit expansion in Germany made great progress in June. This is reflected in the 23 decisions handed over, one commissioning and 13 construction starts in aconium’s area of responsibility, which were carried out in June as part of the federal Gigabit funding program.
These expansion projects alone will create over 18,130 new gigabit connections, including around 1,325 companies and almost 235 institutions, including almost 170 schools.
The Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport Affairs (BMDV) is supporting these infrastructure projects with over 134 million euros from the federal government’s gigabit funding. In addition, there is around 50.5 million euros from the funding programs of the federal states and the municipal contribution of around 64 million euros.
Together with the supplementary state funding programs and the municipal contributions, the federal government, the states and the municipalities are thus jointly creating the basis for nationwide and future-proof broadband coverage.
For the expanding municipalities, this efficient digital infrastructure means a lasting strengthening as a business location, sustainable services of general interest for their citizens and the best conditions for a successful digital transformation.
