In four closed meetings to draw up the local development strategy (LES), the participants, with the support of aconium GmbH and the Region Kassel-Land e.V. association, took a look ahead to the year 2040 and developed a vision for a region worth living in. The events took place all day at the Hessian State Domain Frankenhausen and each focused on one field of action.
The “Services of general interest” closed meeting not only dealt with future housing, but also with the question of how demographic change will affect healthcare and energy supply, mobility and leisure and cultural activities in the region.
Attractive recreational areas for people in the region and the focus of tourism development were discussed in the “Tourism and local recreation” field of action. How should the region develop in order to present itself as a unique vacation region?
The third closed meeting focused on the economic development of the region. This event was aimed in particular at entrepreneurs in the skilled trades and manufacturing sectors. The focus was on how new jobs and attractive framework conditions can be created for future skilled workers in the Kassel-Land region and how small and medium-sized enterprises can be supported with digitalization.
The cross-cutting topics of “sustainability” and “climate protection” were addressed at the “bioeconomy” conference, which asked what renewable raw materials the region has and how these can support the transformation process towards a more sustainable economy. Regional value chains to support local producers were also discussed.
Among other things, the results of the closed meetings form the basis for the workshop on achieving goals and launching projects, which will take place on April 2, 2022.
