Digitization and development in rural areas – A successful full application by aconium GmbH for the 3rd call – Interreg VB NSR (2014-2020).
On June 8, the Steering Committee of the North Sea Region Interreg programme approved 15 projects focusing on promoting innovation, sustainable growth, climate change, eco-innovation and green transport in the North Sea region. The project CORA – Connecting Remote Areas with Digital Infrastructure and Services – developed by aconium GmbH – was one of the successful projects approved by the steering committee.
CORA focuses on the promotion of digital infrastructure and services in rural areas. The project consists of a transnational consortium with 18 partners from 7 European member states.
CORA supports local authorities in identifying common challenges and encourages them to share experiences and develop innovative solutions to create a sustainable digital environment. The CORA partners are developing a model with a comprehensive guide to digitalization in rural areas. In addition, rural regions will be supported by providing measures such as training platforms and digital labs for communities, local authorities and businesses to improve their digital literacy and the innovative use of Next Generation Access (NGA) for socio-economic development in their region. By 2020, 10 pilot regions will test one or more dimensions of digitalization depending on their local conditions and priorities. Digital strategies for rural areas will be derived from the results and subsequently communicated to regional, national and European authorities to influence EU digital inclusion policies.
aconium GmbH is the project developer, project partner and head of the communication work package in CORA.
