Politicians, associations and companies meet to exchange ideas: The Haus der Deutschen Wirtschaft in Berlin will be the meeting place for a high-profile expert discussion. Under the motto “Together for more skilled workers in fiber optic expansion”, high-ranking players from business and politics, including State Secretary Stefan Schnorr from the Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport as well as members of the German Bundestag and company representatives, will come together on 15.02.2024.

Working together against the skills shortage

The main focus of the event is on the cooperation between the state and industry in order to attract more skilled workers for the expansion of fiber optic networks. The agenda includes an exchange on the current fields of action, starting with the presentation of a status analysis from a company perspective, the recruitment of skilled workers from third countries and the training and further education of employees through to success stories from the industry. The event will take place in a hybrid format.

About the Initiative Fachkräfte für den Glasfaserausbau (FKGA)

Companies and associations such as BUGLAS, BREKO, VATM, the federal government’s Gigabit Office, aconium GmbH and the DIHK are involved in the Initiative Fachkräfte für den Glasfaserausbau. The initiative supports the German government’s plan to bring fiber optic networks much further into the area. Under the umbrella of the FKGA, the participants are working to make suitable further training opportunities visible, advising on ways to attract skilled workers from abroad and encouraging people to take a career change into fiber optic expansion. The FKGA also informs career starters about the wide range of job opportunities and offers expanding companies the opportunity to find specialists for fiber optic expansion via an online job exchange.
