Last weekend, the 1st Harz Festival of the LEADER-funded “Genuss Bike Paradies” project took place on the Nordharzer KulturradWeg. In Harsleben and Wernigerode in Saxony-Anhalt, aconium GmbH presented the project and motivated enthusiastic cyclists and local gourmet restaurants to take part.
The Harz Festival, at which all three federal states bordering the Harz Mountains – Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia and Lower Saxony – were represented, is an ideal location for the LEADER-funded “Genuss Bike Paradies” project on the Nordharzer KulturradWeg.
Under the motto “Movement meets culture”, aconium GmbH hosted an information stand in cooperation with Harz-Mobil Waturandang und Wermuth Gbr – an e-bike rental company and project sponsor of the “Harz” LEADER region. The “eBike your Life” event in Wernigerode made it clear how great the demand for e-bike tourism is in the region. Ultimately, cycle tourists should feel like they are in paradise: nature and natural monuments, charming restaurants, hospitable accommodation, regional producers as well as cultural and industrial-cultural facilities such as mines and museums – all of which can be experienced on modern e-bikes. A broad cross-section of the Harz Mountains is presented on a circular route that includes various stages.
In Wernigerode, aconium GmbH welcomed sports and leisure cyclists who took part in guided tours on e-bikes as part of the “eBike your Life” event. This relatively new event is all about cycling with electric assistance and getting to know the region. In addition to guided leisure and sports tours in the Harz foreland and the Upper Harz, there was a lively exchange of information in the so called E-Bike Village about the LEADER-funded project with numerous regional exhibitors and participating leisure and sports cyclists. The network of partner businesses that are actively involved in the project and contribute to a holistic enjoyment experience during the stay is growing.
aconium GmbH is responsible for project management, coordinates the content-related work and supports the project partners in implementing the individual components.
The aim of the project is to establish a holistic tourism network that provides guests with further regional moments of enjoyment that go beyond relaxation while cycling on well-developed cycle paths through the beautiful scenery of the Harz Mountains.
About the project
The transnational cooperation project “E-Bike Paradise”, in which regions from Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia, Lower Saxony and Austria are working together, aims to promote e-bike tourism in the Harz Mountains and Harz foreland. Among other things, the aim is to develop routes that connect adventure locations and regional producers and are fun to ride on. The project partners are setting up an infrastructure for e-bikes in the participating regions. This includes the development of special service offers, a joint booking system and portal as well as a concept for setting up the necessary rental, service and charging stations for e-bikes at the participating businesses.
The project aims to use the positive experiences gained in the Austrian LEADER region “Südburgenland Plus” (where e-bikes were used too) to establish a comparable service in the Harz Mountains and thus enhance the tourism region as a whole. In return, the positive insights gained in the Harz Mountains from the implementation of the “Harz Hiking Track” are to be implemented in southern Burgenland in order to prepare for the introduction of a corresponding “Cycling Track”.
