Hessian Digital Minister Prof. Dr. Kristina Sinemus officially launched GigaMaP – a pioneering digital portal for gigabit expansion in Hesse – on December 1, 2020. At gigamap-hessen.de citizens, tradespeople and companies can now query the broadband and mobile network availability at their chosen location and differentiate between different technologies. The heart of GigaMap – the so-called geographic information system (GIS) – was developed by the Berlin-based company aconium.

Digital Minister Sinemus praised the excellent cooperation in the development of the portal: “When the project was launched, the aim was to turn our Hessian broadband information system hesbis into a forward-looking digital portal for monitoring the expansion of digital infrastructures in Hesse with the help of a GIS tool and to integrate the possibility of network expansion planning and the implementation of relevant approval processes into it, the project participants were initially faced with a Herculean task. However, ekom21, aconium GmbH, Softplan and the state have always pulled together and successfully launched the project today. I would like to express my sincere thanks to everyone involved!”

aconium Managing Director Tim Brauckmüller comments: “We are very pleased that we were able to convince the Hessian state government of our efficient and innovative geoinformation system. Together, in close cooperation with all partners, we are making an important contribution to reducing bureaucracy.”
