The broadband expansion in the city of Dessau-Roßlau began on Monday with a symbolic ground-breaking ceremony in the Rodleben district.
Around 650 companies and 4,700 private customers in 19 business parks and 11 districts are to be connected to the high-speed network by the end of 2018. In April 2017, the municipal utility subsidiary Datel Dessau was awarded the contract and is now starting the expansion in Rodleben, Sollnitz and Meinsdorf.
Other districts will follow. In addition to funding from the state, the federal government is also contributing 316,000 euros to the project. Theo Struhkamp, Head of Digital Strategy at the Saxony-Anhalt Ministry of Economic Affairs, Science and Digitalization, sees Dessau-Roßlau at the forefront of the state in terms of coverage and attested to the city’s positive future prospects, which will be further strengthened by the current expansion.
