On Friday, September 25, 2020, the new premises of the aconium Academy were the venue for the first members’ meeting of the German Artificial Intelligence Association. Due to the current hygiene measures, the annual meeting took place in hybrid form and was thus held as an in-person and online event. aconium has been a supporting member and partner of the association since the beginning of 2020.

The Head of Education Management and the Academy, Rüdiger Wallmann, welcomed all those present and introduced aconium GmbH and its business areas and funding projects to the members of the KI-Bundesverband. At the Academy’s premises, the Stellwerk in Berlin-Mitte, 27 people met online in a live link-up with numerous members of the association.

In the first part of the event, the association’s regional and working group leaders were invited to take part in workshops on topics such as activating members and addressing politicians. In the afternoon, the plenary meeting was also broadcast digitally so that other members could take part in the event. There was also a report on the work of the German Bundestag’s Enquete Commission on Artificial Intelligence and the presentation of the study “Artificial Intelligence: Where do German start-ups stand?”.

The KI-Bundesverband now has around 250 member companies, including SMEs, start-ups and various experts. The association is an important point of contact for the development and use of AI applications. An important aspect of its work is the upcoming AI regulation at European level, in which the handling of sensitive data in the healthcare sector plays a particularly important role.
