With various contributions, the working group for international projects of the Senate Office of Hamburg invited its partners to this year´s family meeting on November 28 2016 – an information event about the cities’ involvement in international projects, reviews of past developments and achievements and upcoming trends in that field. Around 120 actors from projects within the fields of research, administration and implementation met for an information event with consecutive networking opportunities at Hamburg’s town hall.

Speakers included the Director of the Senate Office as well as guests from the Federal Ministry of Economics and the University of Applied Sciences of Hamburg. They presented backgrounds on areas eligible for funding and the project support abroad by the city of Hamburg, an overview on project participation criteria, programmes with contributions from the city of Hamburg as well as projects from former and current funding periods. The cities’ growing involvement and the profits were also addressed in many contributions.

While future developments of the EU programmes dominated the presentations, also project ideas and the suitability of various topics and actors for the respective funding areas and the compilation of international partner networks were discussed. In the development of new projects, a particular dynamic can currently be observed by substantive amendments from the research framework towards the EU Research and Innovation Programme Horizon 2020 – by consolidating the research frameworks 1 to 7 together with two further EU funding programmes, all funding programmes relevant for research and innovation have been conflated into one programme.

Information on approaching publications and events of the INTERREG programme areas and Horizon 2020 can be found in the presentations, available here.
