The latest figures continue to show a positive trend in broadband expansion throughout Germany, both in cities and rural areas. The availability of connections with over 1000 Mbit/s increased again in the last six months and now stands at 55.9%. More than half of all German households now have access to bandwidths in the gigabit range. With an increase of around 12%, there has also been a significant leap in gigabit availability in commercial areas within six months. The study also shows broadband availability in the individual federal states. The results are based on data provided by the telecommunications companies.
The survey was commissioned by the BMVI and compiled by aconium GmbH. The broadband atlas and the current report are available at www.breitbandatlas.de.
