On October 17, 2023, the Lower Saxony Cabinet adopted the new digital strategy in ten subject areas and a total of 43 measures. Digital Strategy 2030 was presented. In addition to the use of AI, the creation of hybrid cloud infrastructures and the further establishment of automated processes, the implementation package focuses on cross-authority and cross-state cooperation.

“Overall, the tasks of digitalization are too extensive and too numerous to be implemented with the state’s own resources alone. Against this backdrop, the 2030 digitalization strategy is characterized by a strong spirit of cooperation,” said Horst Baier, IT representative and CIO of the state of Lower Saxony. The planned measures are intended to support a comprehensive modernization process and the use of new technologies in the state administration as well as counteract the shortage of skilled workers.

“This means that important foundations and defined measures have been agreed in order to visibly drive forward the digital transformation of Lower Saxony’s state administration in the coming years,” said Baier.
