aconium has published a comprehensive book entitled “Kommunaler Breitbandausbau in Deutschland: Grundlagen und Empfehlungen”. With the help of this publication, municipal broadband expansion can be well planned and structured and an up-to-date basic understanding of the legal, economic and technical aspects can be created.
Regularly published supplementary editions ensure that this specialist reading is constantly adapted to the rapidly changing technological development cycles and current framework conditions. The 6th supplementary edition is now available, which has been revised, supplemented and updated by aconium GmbH in cooperation with experts and on the basis of its many years of experience in the field of municipal broadband expansion.
The very first pages of this edition provide you with important insights into the “Digital Pact for Schools” funding program, as well as a preview of the upcoming new Module 9 “School IT Infrastructures”. With the inclusion and addition of this new module, we are tackling a topic that is becoming increasingly important, and not just due to the pandemic. Step by step, it shows how digital competence can be achieved in schools. The most extensive new feature of the 6th supplement can be found in Module 4 “Financing and funding”: On April 26, 2021, the new directive to promote gigabit expansion in Germany, the federal government’s grey-spot funding program, came into force. This supports the expansion of ultra-fast internet in all areas where bandwidths of at least 100 Mbit/s are not yet available.
In addition, the new index in Module 8 “Templates, checklists and glossary” will provide assistance in handling this extensive reference work in future. The index will be regularly supplemented, expanded and completed in all future supplementary deliveries.
