Bringing the town center of Osterholz-Scharmbeck to life – this is what the “Lauschplätze Osterholz-Scharmbeck adventure trail” will do in future. As part of this promotional project, a new way of exploring the city will be offered free of charge. There are now permanent information boards at a total of 16 different locations in the city center, on which, in addition to a short description via a QR code, the history or interesting facts about the respective location are provided in audio format.

To give residents and visitors to Osterholz-Scharmbeck a new opportunity to explore the town and get to know it better, the “Lauschplätze adventure trail” is now being installed throughout the town center. In light of the experience gained during the coronavirus pandemic, it is important to the town to create an offer that people can take advantage of regardless of the specified opening hours.

“The offer is aimed at anyone who is interested in the town, regardless of whether they are young or old, have lived here for a long time, have some knowledge of the area or are visiting Osterholz-Scharmbeck for the first time,” explains the Mayor of Osterholz-Scharmbeck, Torsten Rohde.

All panels on the adventure trail are publicly accessible and easily recognizable in the cityscape. Hidden behind the QR code is a short audio file that can be used, for example, to “listen” to the historical background, interesting facts and curiosities about the place. You can listen to individual stations or walk and discover the adventure trail in one go. All you need is a smartphone or other device to scan the QR codes and start the audio playback.

This results in an exciting discovery tour along the sights of Osterholz-Scharmbeck, which immerses the listener in the stories and creates a new approach.

The website for the project is at www.lauschplaetze.de and offers the opportunity to discover the listening spots even without a smartphone. The town of Osterholz-Scharmbeck endeavors to give as many people as possible access to the Erlebnispfad Lauschplätze Osterholz-Scharmbeck. For this reason, you will also find the text versions of all the listening spots on this website.

About the project

The project was funded by the immediate action program “Perspektive Innenstadt!”with which the state of Lower Saxony is supporting over 200 cities and municipalities in coping with the consequences of the pandemic. The aim is to enable people to rediscover the city as a living space and see their city from a different perspective. Around 120 million euros are available for this from the EU’s REACT EU (Recovery Assistance for Cohesion and the Territories of Europe) program as part of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
