More and more smart city and smart region projects are being implemented across Germany. They use innovative approaches to promote sustainable and liveable environments. How are municipal stakeholders in the Free State of Saxony supported in the development and implementation of such projects? Since August 2023, Saxon municipalities have had the opportunity to use the web portal Smart Regions Saxony to access innovative and digital solutions . As part of a roadshow, mayors, municipal administrative staff and regional stakeholders from science and business can now find out about the portal directly on site.
The web portal provides municipalities with inspiration and assistance in the planning and implementation of innovative projects in the areas of energy, administration, mobility, environmental protection, tourism, construction, services of general interest and business. In addition to a funding finder with relevant current funding programs and a potential check, which supports municipalities in determining their level of digital maturity with further assistance and suggestions, the portal also offers best practices, for example to show networking opportunities with other neighboring regions.
“Smart Regions Saxony” also provides access to a comprehensive knowledge navigator on the topic of smart cities and regions. Via a newsletter it is possible to keep up to date with new content on a regular basis.
In the course of the first event of the EDIH roadshow “Smart regions – on your doorstep!” on 25.03.2024 in Hartha, Mittelsachsen district, aconium GmbH offered interested parties an introduction to the web portal. Further innovative solutions for and from cities and municipalities will be presented and discussed at regional follow-up events at different locations over the course of the year. In addition to the web portal, this will provide municipalities with valuable exchange and networking opportunities to find inspiration and suitable partners for smart projects.
“Smart Regions Saxony” is an initiative of the simul+InnovationHub of the Saxon State Ministry for Regional Development and is being implemented as part of the European Digital Innovation Hub Saxony (EDIH Saxony) implemented. aconium GmbH supports the simul⁺InnovationHub in the conception, implementation and support of the project.
