aconium publishes training courses as part of the EU COM³ project

“Datafication”, the increasing collection and analysis of data in all areas of life and business, is one of the major trends of recent years. Corresponding developments are of great importance, not least for the public sector. There is enormous potential for creating economic and social added value, especially for and with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), if high-quality data from a wide range of areas is made available to the public for further use. This can be done directly, in the form of open data, or indirectly, in the form of digital applications. Local and regional authorities can actively promote and shape these developments, not least by establishing public data platforms. However, this is associated with a number of challenges, for which solutions have been created as part of the COM³ project.

The Interreg project COM³ (Building COMpetencies for COMpetitive COMpanies) in the North Sea region promotes digital competencies in rural areas. COM³ partners support SMEs in the introduction and use of new technologies. As one of the latest results, aconium GmbH has now developed a training module that focuses specifically on the development opportunities for regional SMEs through the use of data and public data platforms.

The training module provides an introduction to basic terms and concepts related to public data platforms. In addition, the e-learning course provides an overview of the importance of such platforms for local economic development and the policy and governance structures in which they operate in the European Union. It also identifies possible obstacles to the successful implementation of the platforms. The module also includes concrete examples and best practices from the COM³ pilot projects in Drenthe (Netherlands) and Leiedal (Belgium).

More about COM³

The COM³ partners are testing creative solutions in nine pilot regions across the North Sea region to coach and support small, local companies in their digitalization process. They are developing a unique support model in the form of guidance measures, training and coaching solutions. These solutions are accessible to all local and regional authorities on the online learning platform ruraldigital.eu.

In the Interreg North Sea project COM³, aconium GmbH leads the strategic communication and coordinates the project management activities together with the Belgian lead partner Intercommunale Leiedal. In addition, aconium GmbH is involved in the development of the project methodology and the COM³ model in cooperation with scientific partners. With its many years of experience and a network in the field of digital innovation, it is actively promoting the project results at EU level.
