Hesse: Mobile communications expansion in the area is progressing

With the “Future Pact for Mobile Communications in Hesse”, the Hessian state government has put together a comprehensive package of measures to improve mobile communications coverage and accelerate the expansion of new transmitter sites. A key objective of the pact between the state of Hesse and the three mobile communications companies Deutsche Telekom, Telefónica Deutschland and Vodafone was to build or upgrade around 4,000 new mobile communications sites in Hesse by 2024. Six months after signing the agreement, the Hessian state government has now drawn a first positive interim conclusion. By the end of the second quarter, more than 20 percent of the agreed site measures had already been implemented, which includes a total of 894 completed expansion and conversion measures. This includes a large number of LTE and 5G expansions.

The “Future Pact for Mobile Communications in Hesse” focuses on network densification and improving network quality. The agreement concluded in January 2022, which builds on the first mobile communications pact successfully concluded in 2021, comprises the four central pillars of “mobile communications coverage and network quality”, “acceleration of procedures”, “dialog and transparency” and “political framework conditions”.
