Brandenburg: Digital suitcase pilot project for inpatient care
On January 26, 2022, the DigitalAgentur Brandenburg (DABB) and the “Ageing” network of the city of Potsdam launched the testing of a “Digital suitcase for inpatient care facilities”. The aim of the project is to discuss how low-threshold access to digitalization can be achieved for people with care needs in inpatient care facilities. At the same time, the aim is to investigate how the use of modern technologies can support care staff in their daily work and relieve their workload in the future.
The digital suitcase consists of eleven items that are suitable for the target group of older people with care needs or care professionals on site and promise digital benefits. These include a gesture-controlled games console with therapeutic video games designed to stimulate the movement activities of senior citizens and a tablet adapted to the needs of older people. The objects were selected by the DABB in consultation with the Brandenburg Future Center for Digital Change. A total of five inpatient care facilities in Potsdam will initially each benefit from the suitcase for four weeks. The facilities will be supported by the “Getting Older” network, which will be available as a point of contact during the trial phase and will coordinate the loan.
The pilot project will be evaluated throughout its entire duration. A final report will be published at the end of the project.
