aconium once again premium partner of the FTTH Conference 2023 in Madrid

From 18 to 20 April 2023, the fiber optic industry met at the FTTH Conference at the North Congress Centre in Madrid to learn about current developments and prospects in the field of fiber optic connectivity at the world’s largest fiber optic summit. As a premium partner, aconium was represented several times: With the Governmental Day workshop, with an exhibition stand and as a friend and partner of the Ukrainian Ministry of Digital Transformation.

With 150 exhibitors and 3,500 participants from over 100 countries, the FTTH Conference was one of the most important international industry gatherings of the year.

This year’s event once again brought together stakeholders from the fields of technology, regulation, politics and financing to discuss the latest fiber optic technologies and solutions, product innovations, financing options and political approaches to realizing a gigabit-capable fiber optic network in Europe.

Under the motto “Mobile mapping of the future – a wide view for narrow paths”, aconium GmbH presented a unique cargo bike at its stand, which is equipped with data collection technology and thus enables sustainable and CO2-neutral mobile data collection, especially for small streets in old towns.

As every year, the first day of the event was dominated by the Governmental Day workshop. Alfons Schöps, Head of the aconium liaison office in Brussels, and Darijus Valiucko, Project Manager at aconium GmbH, accompanied this workshop, which was filled with technical contributions from experts from all over Europe. The focus was on discussions about the latest developments and future plans of the EU Commission and the member states for fiber optic expansion. Successful approaches and projects were presented and the exchange within the broadband community was promoted.

A special highlight of the event was the 15-minute Q&A session on April 19 with Yuryi Matsik, Director of the Department of Fixed Broadband at the Ministry of Digital Transformation, Ukraine. The interview was part of the opening ceremony and focused on the network infrastructure in Ukraine after 14 months of war.

Even before and during the war, we worked closely with the Ukrainian Ministry of Digital Affairs to effectively support the expansion of fiber optics by comprehensively mapping the country’s network infrastructure.

aconium has been operating its own site in Kiev for some time and is working with Ukraine on a nationwide broadband information system for Ukrainian infrastructure expansion as part of the EU4DigitalUA project.
