Lower Saxony: WLAN funding extended

With effect from 01.08.2021, the “Hot Spot Niedersachsen” guideline for funding the expansion of WiFi, which has been running since March 2020, was amended. The object of the funding program is the first-time establishment of free Wi-Fi hotspots or their spatial expansion in publicly accessible locations in the state of Lower Saxony where no comparable free Wi-Fi exists to date. Whereas previously only municipalities and local authorities responsible for local public transport were able to submit applications for funding, the districts of Lower Saxony and the Hannover Region are now also entitled to submit applications to the WLAN funding program of the state of Lower Saxony, provided that the eligible locations are owned by the district or region. The Lower Saxony state development bank NBank provides a detailed overview of the locations potentially eligible for funding under the directive on its website. Applications under the Hot Spot Niedersachsen guideline can be submitted until 31.12.2022.
