Project on the use of energy-saving methods and program for energy-efficient and (almost) zero-energy schools

Project content

Most schools in Germany and Europe were built in less environmentally conscious times and are characterized by high and increasingly cost-intensive energy consumption, which is not compatible with today’s legislation and the goals of energy efficiency and reduction of CO2 emissions. 2IMPREZS will stimulate changes in the current situation by promoting both behavioral and technically efficient energy saving measures in existing schools, as well as reducing energy consumption and thus CO2 emissions. With 2IMPREZS, the focus is for the first time on the whole spectrum of energy efficiency measures (behavioral, technical and financial approaches) instead of focusing on only one specific area.
Based on the active participation and initiatives of school stakeholders (teachers, students, management) and the experience of the project partners, 2IMPREZS will develop a joint energy saving program in schools with the help of so-called Energy Challenges. The Energy Challenges are intended to motivate pupils to independently develop and sustainably implement energy-saving measures at their schools. In addition, an innovative decision-making model will be developed, tested and validated, including cost-effective educational, technical and financial measures. In addition, four schools are to be converted into zero-energy buildings. The 2IMPREZS Energy Challenges put pupils at the heart of their schools’ energy-saving initiatives and enable the implementation of energy-saving measures that will have a lasting impact beyond the project duration.
In the context of the current self-image of the Fridays for Future movement, pupils are at the heart of the project and are encouraged to take responsibility as part of a European competition.
With the experience of the project partners and based on the needs of the pupils, a content roadmap and an implementation scheme with pedagogical, technological and financial approaches to energy saving will be developed.

Goals

The implementation of the project’s comprehensive transnational strategy aims to achieve energy savings of 30% in 141 schools in the North Sea region. This corresponds to an emission reduction of 7320 tons of CO2 emissions. Four schools in the North Sea region are also to be transformed into zero-energy buildings.

Tasks of aconium GmbH

As a project partner, aconium is responsible for communication with the schools in the project region. The participating schools are supported throughout the project and have a fixed contact person for the implementation of the Energy Challenges and the sustainable reduction of energy. In addition, aconium GmbH organizes the local meetings of the schools in order to promote the transnational exchange of knowledge.
