Business Indoor Coverage – Integrated Radio Access Points

Initial situation

Mobile Internet is omnipresent today, but its use is often inconvenient, especially in public spaces. WLAN networks require separate registration. Mobile phone tariffs often only offer a limited data volume. Inside buildings, the mobile network often doesn’t work at all or only selectively. Of course, users would like things to be different. However, building operators often shy away from the costs and, above all, the complexity that a simple mobile Internet access network entails.

Goals

The aim of the BIC-IRAP cooperation network was to develop an innovative solution for the powerful and efficient provision of mobile Internet in indoor areas. The consortium developed technical innovations through the combined use of LTE and WLAN technologies as well as through the use of optimized network planning and operating models.

The aim of the project was to develop an innovative product that would enable the implementation of new business models in areas previously underserved by mobile Internet.
