OhneAutoMobil_OPR – Testing flexible mobility services in the district Ostprignitz-Ruppin

The Project

With six further partners involved, the district Ostprignitz-Ruppin has successfully applied for funding in the federal competition „MobilitätsWerkStadt 2025“ of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

In the frame of the project demand-oriented public mobility services will be designed and tested as “mobility-as-a-service” offers in urban areas as well as in rural environments. The on-demand-services shall be bookable via app and shall be integrated in the superior transport association. The funding programme is structured into two periods. The first period (duration: 1 year) focuses on creating the scientific-conceptual foundations in order to develop those demand-oriented mobility systems, while in the second period (duration: 3 years) these systems shall be tested in pilot projects.

A further element of the project is the establishment of a regional mobility management in form of a “transfer agent mobility” who is coordinating participation and communication processes with the population. Another focus lies on creating the technical conditions for the implementation of digitally bookable flexible mobility offers.

Goals

The project´s goals are to secure the accessibility of supply offers also without having a car, to promote environmentally friendly means of transport as well as to consolidate the management for new mobility offers and the cross-linking of information and stakeholders in the district of Ostprignitz-Ruppin. Furthermore, the public transport in Ostprignitz-Ruppin shall become more flexible and demand-oriented by using the potential of digitization.

aconium responsibilities

As a scientific project partner aconium is identifying and analysing the need and the acceptance within the population of Ostprignitz-Ruppin regarding demand-oriented mobility forms. The analysis is focussing on two structurally very different areas: The district town Neuruppin and the very sparsely populated area south of Neuruppin, the so-called “Horstdörfer”.

aconium is responsible for the conception of a survey for each study area as well as the realization of the inquiry via an online-tool and direct interviews with the citizens. Moreover, aconium is conducting interviews with experts from the district, the local public transport company, the Brandenburg Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Planning and the Johann Heinrich von Thünen-Institut.

The results of the analysis will be central parts of two feasibility studies, one for each study area. aconium is responsible for researching, conceptualising, writing and editing the two studies as well as for  developing a communication and marketing strategy for the new mobility services.
