„TwinBy – Digital Twins for Bavaria”

The Project

The Bavarian State Ministry for Digital Affairs supports 18 municipal funding projects with the TwinBy project. TwinBy helps the municipalities set up individual digital twins based on specific use cases. The 18 funded projects consist of 4 joint projects and 14 individual projects and are set into practice in all Bavarian regions.

The funded projects are divided into different funding pots: “Small Municipalities (up to 10,000 inhabitants)”, “Energy and Environment”, “Mobility and Health” and “Cross-Domain”.

The municipalities are individually supported by a team of consultants and experts from DKSR, [ui!] and aconium. Together with the respective municipality, they design and technically develop the digital twin.

The Smart District Data Infrastructure (SDDI) of the Technical University of Munich is used as a uniform framework for this. This catalog service uses open standards and is manufacturer-independent.

The whole TwinBy project also includes an accompanying qualification program, which is being carried out by another consortium. The municipalities are taught to work with and further develop their own digital twin.

Goals

The goal of the project is to support the creation of individual digital twins based on specific use cases in Bavarian municipalities as well as to promote their further development by providing specialist knowledge within the municipalities.
