On March 21, 2018, representatives from aconium GmbH’s regional office for Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland met with state politicians at the Hessian state parliament in Wiesbaden for a discussion.
The focus of the exchange of experiences between regional manager Manfred Henning (aconium), Günter Frenz (aconium municipal policy advisor) and members of the state parliament Dr. Walter Arnold (MdL), Karin Wolf (MdL) and Heiko Kasseckert (MdL) was broadband expansion in the state of Hesse.
Questions from the members of parliament regarding the process of nationwide expansion, the special program for commercial areas and, in particular, the connection of schools were clarified during the discussion and the individual processes were discussed.
“aconium, as the official project management organization of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI), handles the entire application process as part of the Federal Broadband Funding Program. With our regional office for Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland, we support the municipalities and districts in the region and thus the realization of funded broadband projects in the state of Hesse,” explained Manfred Henning.
The participants also discussed which steps will be important for the path to the gigabit society in the future. Here, too, the focus was on the expansion of the digital infrastructure, which is being driven forward in Hesse by the state and federal government in close coordination with the districts and municipalities.
The experts agreed that it was crucial to continue the dialog between the federal and state levels in order to continue the rapid, nationwide expansion.
The trusting cooperation between the regional office of aconium GmbH with the Hessian Broadband Competence Center and all local authorities (municipalities and districts), according to the participants in the discussion, is the best prerequisite for implementing the directive. Funding to support broadband expansion in the Federal Republic of Germany (PDF) can be successfully implemented.
