Saxony-Anhalt’s Minister President Reiner Haseloff described the municipality of Hohe Börde as an “exemplary broadband community in rural Saxony-Anhalt” during his visit on March 26, 2018. Together with municipal mayor Steffi Trittel and member of the Bundestag Manfred Behrens, he symbolically pressed the button to launch the newly constructed broadband network. Regional Manager Daniel Knohr was on site as a representative of the Agency for Technology and Networks (aconium), a project sponsor authorized by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure.
The rural women’s association, the fire department and a children’s choir accompanied the festive event. Previously underserved areas of the Hohe Börde municipality are now connected to the digital high-speed network. Connections that enable data transfer rates of at least 50 Mbit/s will be available in future for the rural districts of Brumby, Glüsig, Mammendorf, Tundersleben and parts of Bebertal and Niederndodeleben. A total of 2,491 households and 273 companies will benefit from the expansion. The project is being funded with a good 226,000 euros from the federal broadband funding program and an additional 792,000 euros from state funds from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD). The municipality itself is providing a good 113,000 euros of its own funds.
