The topic of refugees is currently on everyone’s lips and there is much debate about integration. According to NetHope, an NGO that aims to improve the world through technological innovation, and google.org, the non-profit organization of the major search engine company, integration can be improved through access to information from the web. Refugees could use information and educational services to help them find their way around their new environment and settle in better. Project Reconnect therefore provides Chromebooks to non-profit organizations that work with refugees in Germany. The laptops are based on the Chrome browser and are easy to use even for people with little computer experience. Non-profit organizations have until 8 February to apply for the provision of up to 5,000 Chromebooks. Preference will be given to organizations that demonstrate how they can use Chromebooks and the Internet to help refugees and make important resources and programs accessible. You can find the tender documents here . Further information on the initiative can be found on the website at http://reconnect.nethope.org/.
