ANGA COM 2024 – Congress, trade fair, networks

“Where Broadband meets Content” was the headline of this year’s ANGA COM in Cologne, one of the most important industry gatherings and also one of the highlights of the trade fair year for us. And the motto was fulfilled in full – with 480 exhibitors and 23,000 participants from more than 80 countries, there were numerous opportunities for us to network, meet partners, make new contacts, share our expertise in panels and present our products and services relating to broadband and digitization at our stand.

The program focused on the topics of in-house networks, open access, civil engineering and municipalities, which are particularly important for fibre optic expansion in practice. Several panels provided practical experience reports and recommendations with and especially for local authorities.

Participants gained particularly deep insights into the practice in the panels “Civil Engineering in Municipalities: Experience, Savings Potential and Acceleration Options”, which was moderated by our Managing Director Kai Pigorsch (former), and the “Infrastructure Summit: Networks, Digitization, Smart City”, in which Tim Brauckmüller, Managing Director of aconium GmbH, discussed the challenges of the coming years.

At the aconium stand, our experts were on hand to answer visitors’ questions about the innovations and products of our Techhub team, the development center of aconium GmbH: digital twins, applicant platforms and geographic information systems (GIS) were the top topics that met with lively interest.

ANGA COM and NØRD were once again two exciting and important events for us this year, which will certainly be part of next year’s must-attend program!

NØRD digital convention

Connecting Contrasts – that was the motto of this year’s NØRD Digital Convention, which invited decision-makers from the public sector to Rostock for the third time at the end of May.

Discussion panels, keynotes and the presentation of technical innovations dominated the two days of the congress. The NØRD is organized by digitalesMV. The aim is to present innovative, creative ideas from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and at the same time provide an insight into other federal states and their solutions. There was room for this on the various stages with their extensive program and in the CoWork Lounge, for example. The “Female Area” also provided a dedicated platform for networking women involved in the field of digitalization. In the Start-up Area, interested parties were able to take advantage of a wide range of information and contact opportunities on the topic of start-ups. Highlights were the Smart City & Smart Region Day and the Night of Inspiration on the first day of the event and the Digital Baltic Start-up Day and the Night of Community on the second day.

Comprehensive broadband networks and high-performance mobile phone coverage were at the top of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern’s agenda. As part of the program, our funding advisors Stephanie Holter and Nadine Gratopp provided an update on broadband expansion in MV. Under the motto “Light for the digital future – gigabit funding in MV”, they provided an insight into the status quo and the new features of the current call for the federal broadband funding program.

Experts in the panel discussion “Fiber optic expansion in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern” also addressed the future of the infrastructure. Together with Christian Pegel, Minister of the Interior, Construction and Digitization, Sven Butler, Head of the Federal Gigabit Office, Guido Lürick, Head of Broadband Projects e.discom GmbH and Oliver Ulke, Deputy Head of State Policy BREKO e.V., our Managing Director Tim Brauckmüller discussed the status quo, prospects and challenges of gigabit expansion in the state as part of the panel.

NØRD also offers an exciting format with the Speakers Corner. Keynotes on a wide range of topics provided the audience with an exciting insight into the diversity of digitalization. Dr Carmen Leidereiter, project manager at aconium GmbH, showed in her presentation “New Work in (municipal) administration”, for example, how new forms of work and digitalization are becoming possible and what obstacles need to be overcome.
