On January 16 and 17, 2019, an “Interwork Event” of the Interreg North Sea Region(Interreg NSR) took place in The Hague, the Netherlands. The aim of the event was to support applicants in the upcoming calls for proposals: Call 9 (full applications) and Call 10 (expressions of interest). It also provided a good opportunity for networking, brainstorming and establishing transnational contacts for the upcoming project applications. Special bilateral consultations were held for applicants on both days.
Project COM3
As developers of the “COM3 – Building COMpetences for COMpetetive COMpanies” project, employees of aconium GmbH also took part in the event. They obtained information on findings and recommendations from the Joint Secretariat of the NSR and the national contact points of the participating member states. COM3 aims to improve the introduction of digital technologies in companies in less developed and rural areas.
To this end, the project networks local and regional authorities, research institutions and business support organizations from the entire North Sea region. The aims of CoOM3 are:
- the development of innovative measures to maximize the effective introduction of technology in companies in rural areas, and
- the development of branded technology regions in the North Sea region.
COM3 was submitted in the 8th call of the Interreg NSR and approved by the North Sea Region Steering Committee. The full application will be submitted by March 11, 2019.

aconium & the Interreg North Sea Region
aconium has more than ten years of experience in working on Interreg NSR projects. We are currently actively involved in two ongoing Interreg NSR projects:
In CORA, aconium GmbH is the project developer, project partner, head of the communication work package and transnational project, communication and financial manager in cooperation with the lead partner Intercommunale Leiedal (Belgium). In addition, aconium coordinates the development of the training and e-learning platform in the project. The aim is to improve digital skills in less developed and rural areas of the North Sea region. CORA is a transnational project involving 18 partners from seven European member states.
The recently launched FBD – Futures By Design project aims to increase the innovative capacity and productivity of small and medium-sized enterprises in economically less prosperous rural areas. The ability of companies to access data and data analysis to drive innovative processes is often limited. Through information and knowledge transfer, companies from various sectors are prepared for upcoming economic, technical or digital challenges. As a project partner, aconium takes on communication activities and is responsible for the development and implementation of the interregional survey of companies in the partner regions.
